Some of them have been judged against wines from ancient wine producing countries and have come up on top.<\/p>\n<p>Australian wines have been performing well for some years now. They are the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine and Spirit Competition.<\/p>\n<p>The DWWA is the biggest competition in the world and was started in 2004 in London. The IWSC is one of the oldest and without question, the most prestigious competition. It\u2019s also based in London and was started in 1969.<\/p>\n<p>[vc_separator type=&#8217;normal&#8217; position=&#8217;center&#8217; color=&#8217;#666666&#8242; thickness=&#8217;1&#8242; up=&#8221; down=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>The Wines in Decanter World Wine Awards<\/h2>\n<p>Several Australian wines made it to the top in these competitions. Here\u2019s the list of the most appreciated wines of 2015.<\/p>\n<h3>#1&nbsp;Bay of Fires 2014 Sauvignon Blanc from Tasmania<\/h3>\n<p>This white wine was awarded the Gold International Trophy in the DWWA. It was awarded under the section of Sauvignon Blanc under over \u00a315.<\/p>\n<h3>#2&nbsp;Leasingham 2009 Classic Clare Riesling from Clare Valley<\/h3>\n<p>This dry white was awarded Gold International Trophy for Dry Rieslings over \u00a315 in the DWWA.<\/p>\n<h3>#3&nbsp;Longview Epitome Late Harvest Riesling 2013 from Adelaide Hills<\/h3>\n<p>This was again awarded the Gold International trophy by DWWA. The category was Sweet under \u00a315.<\/p>\n<h3>#4&nbsp;2008, 1827 Cross-Regional Blend from McWilliam<\/h3>\n<p>This red-blend received the International Trophy from the DWWA in the category of Red blends over \u00a315.<\/p>\n<h3>#5&nbsp;2013 Mappinga Reserve Shiraz from Sidewood<\/h3>\n<p>This red wine won the International Trophy in DWWA under the category of Red Rhone Varietals of over \u00a315.<\/p>\n<h3>#6&nbsp;All Saints Rare Muscat from Victoria<\/h3>\n<p>This won the Regional Trophy from DWWA for Australian Fortified over \u00a315.<\/p>\n<h3>#7&nbsp;The Curly Flat 2011 Pinot Noir from Victoria<\/h3>\n<p>This red wine won the Regional Trophy for Australian Pinot Noir over \u00a315.<\/p>\n<p>[vc_separator type=&#8217;normal&#8217; position=&#8217;center&#8217; color=&#8217;#666666&#8242; thickness=&#8217;1&#8242; up=&#8221; down=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Wines in the International Wine and Spirit Competition<\/h2>\n<p>There were several Australian wines in the IWSC that were awarded Gold Outstanding. Here\u2019s a brief list of the highest scoring wines in this competition.<\/p>\n<h3>#1&nbsp;The McGuigan Bin 9000 2003 Semillon<\/h3>\n<p>This white wine, produced by Australian Vintage Ltd, is a 2003 vintage and won the Gold Outstanding award.<\/p>\n<h3>#2&nbsp;The McGuigan Shortlist Riesling<\/h3>\n<p>The 2004 vintage of Riesling produced by Australian Vintage Ltd, also won a Gold Outstanding award from IWSC.<\/p>\n<h3>#3&nbsp;Brookland Valley Estate 2013 Chardonnay<\/h3>\n<p>This 2013 vintage Chardonnay from Brookland Valley Estate also won the Gold Outstanding award from IWSC.<\/p>\n<h3>#4&nbsp;The Everest Shiraz<\/h3>\n<p>This red wine from Chateau Tanunda is a 2008 vintage and won the Gold Outstanding award from IWSC as well. The judges called it delightfully intense and said that it travelled well across the palate.<\/p>\n<h3>#5&nbsp;Forester Estate Home Block 2011 Shiraz<\/h3>\n<p>This is another Shiraz that won much praise. The 2011 vintage from Forester Estate won the Gold Outstanding award from IWSC. The judges called it a complete wine despite its age.<\/p>\n<h3>#6&nbsp;House of Arras EJ Carr 2002 Late Disgorged<\/h3>\n<p>This bottle of sparkling wine received a special award. The Denbies Wine Estate Trophy for Bottle Fermented Sparkling Wine was awarded to it.
